Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i enlists the services of the Canadian lobbying firm Dickens & Madson, committing a retainer fee of Ksh 32 million for his campaign push towards the 2027 presidential election.

The firm led by controversial former Mossad agent Ari Ben-Menashe will lobby influential agencies in Kenya, the United States and other foreign governments to boost his international profile and support fundraising efforts.

Documents filed with the United States Department of Justice under the Foreign Agents Registration Act show that Matiang’i has already made a $65,000 down payment for the firm’s services.

Dickens & Madson recently had a similar role in the 2024 Botswana elections where they successfully supported the campaign of newly elected President Duma Boko.

What are the chances of Matiangi winning the race?

Currently, Ruto is the president of Kenya and from the mood on the ground, Kenyans are not happy. Matiangi was a performer during Uhuru’s leadership. Uhuru even made him a Super CS and relegated Ruto to a ceremonial Deputy President.

When he contests in 2027, Uhuru will automatically support him. Rigathi Gachagua and Mount Kenya may also not support Ruto in 2027. This implies that they will support another candidate.

If Kalonzo and Mount Kenya support Matiangi in 2027, Ruto will be defeated.

Raila may not support Matiangi but most of his supporters will support the former Super CS.

Matiangi’s win will be guaranteed if Ruto does not rig the elections.
