A pregnant woman was taken to Magena Dispensary on Monday night at 11:30 PM.
She was in great pain but stayed at the hospital all night and the whole of Tuesday. The nurses told her that it was not yet time for her to give birth. Sadly, she was left without care until yesterday evening when she passed away, along with her baby.
When the doctors and nurses realized she had died, they disappeared. As of Wednesday morning, her body is still at Magena Dispensary, with no staff present.
Kisii County now has the highest number of maternal deaths in the country. The hospitals have become dangerous places because of poor leadership.
At this point, we should not just be talking about this case. This should never have happened. Negligence has taken another life.
To the family of the deceased, we are very sorry for your painful loss.
