The residents of Homa Bay spent the entire night in Raila Odinga stadium for the Madaraka Day celebrations. The stadium is built to accommodate 12,000 people but over 20,000 Luos turned up to listen to President Ruto and Raila Odinga.
The residents are happy that they are in the government for the first time. Many of them absconded their meals to go to the stadium and be part of the celebrating crowd.
This is the first time a number of Luos have become part of the government.The community says that they have been in opposition for a long time and that it’s now their time to enjoy the national cake.
