Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire will be out of the UDA Party. The government was overheard claiming that he is frustrated at UDA. Last year, President Ruto visited her County and the reception wasn’t good. It’s in Embu that the president realised that he has lost Mount Kenya votes.
After a couple of months,DP Kithure Kindiki lectured the governor and told her that it was embarrassing for the president to be booed in her County. He warned her of dire consequences.
This week,it was evident that Cecily will be out of the UDA Party. She told DP and the party leaders off, saying that she is also a veteran politician with support on the ground.
Cecily has realised that she cannot win Mount Kenya votes with UDA. She is on her way to Gachagua’s party which majority of Mount Kenya politicians will be using to contest in 2026.
What is evident is that Cecily is not alone, many elected leaders in Mount Kenya will decamp from UDA because the party has lost its popularity in the region.
