Jeff Koinange has not appeared on TV for some weeks and Kenyans are asking where he disappeared to.
This is the fourth consecutive week that veteran journalist Jeff Koinange has been absent from Wednesday’s JKL Live news segment and post-news bench interviews. During this time, Ayub Abdikadir has been running the show solo.
Ayub says Jeff is on leave, but it increasingly seems that he may be gradually stepping away from the screen.
About six months ago, the format shifted to have the youthful Ayub anchor the news while Jeff handled the interviews…. after Jeff appeared to struggle reading from the teleprompter, frequently adjusting his glasses, possibly hinting at eyesight challenges.
Jeff is now 59, and it seems we might see less of him on our screens going forward.
Nonetheless, Citizen TV is keen on keeping Jeff Koinange’s iconic brand, which commands immense respect both locally and internationally. After all, he is a huge name in journalism, and Royal Media Services cannot afford to lose him anytime soon.
This is just my latest observation of our media landscape. I would love to know your thoughts on this.
