Who is the Vice President of Uganda?

UGANDA VICE PRESIDENT JESSICA ROSE EPEL ALUPO

Jessica Rose Epel Alupo, born on May 23, 1974, in Katakwi District, Uganda, is the current Vice President of Uganda, having assumed office in June 2021. She is a member of the National Resistance Movement and serves as the Women’s Representative for Katakwi District in the Ugandan Parliament. Alupo previously served as the Minister of Education and Sports from 2011 to 2016, where she was instrumental in advancing educational reforms and promoting access to quality education across the country.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Linguistics, a Diploma in Public Administration and Management, and two Master’s degrees, one in International Relations and Diplomacy and another in Public Administration and Management.

Before venturing into politics, she worked as a teacher, an instructor at a military training school, and later as an intelligence officer in Uganda’s military intelligence services.

Her political career began in 2001 when she was first elected as the Women’s Member of Parliament for Katakwi District. She later rose through the ranks, serving as State Minister for Youth and Children’s Affairs before becoming the Minister of Education and Sports. Her appointment as Vice President in 2021 made her one of the most influential women in Ugandan politics and a key figure in President Yoweri Museveni’s administration.
