Traders at Gikomba Market are counting losses after their houses were demolished yesterday night. The government intends to build a modern market to do away with old structures in the city.
The modern market will cost over Ksh600 million.
Gikomba was established in 1950s as a small market for food and clothes. It has grown to become the biggest market in Kenya. Over 100,000 people visit the market daily to buy products. It’s the best place to buy mitumba bales,mali mali and farm equipment at affordable prices.
