The same gun, according to the police, has been used in a series of past robberies in Kiambu, Nairobi and Kilifi counties.
The pistol was recovered in Machakos county where the lead suspect in the Westlands robbery had gone hiding (he was at his girlfriend’s house). The suspect died during a shootout as the police attempted to arrest him.
When the police called Judge Muchelule, he said he didn’t know the pistol was missing and that the officer’s call is what alerted him to the missing gun…
This guy has lived a rather colourful life the last few years… In the last 6 years…
• In 2021, around July, $50, 000 (about 6.4 million shillings) was found in his chamber by the DCI during a raid. Apparently, it was related to a bribery scheme. He was arrested… together with Justice Chitembwa, who was found with about $7,000. They were later released.
• He was among the 6 judges rejected by former President Uhuru Kenyatta (he refused to swear them in as Court of Appeal judges- for conduct unbecoming of Judicial officers or something like that).
• Somewhere in September 2022, President Ruto decided to appoint the 6 to the Court of Appeal, ending a 3-year standoff.
• In 2024, they sued the state and all six judges were awarded Sh.126 million in damages (about 15 million each and 5 million in exemplary damages-whatever that is- and some change).
• In November 2024, the guy got married… did a kickass traditional wedding where only you and other poor people were not invited.
• July 2026… his gun is found in the hands of a robber
