Kericho governor Erick Mutai is in serious trouble. The governor slept with a Kabianga university student by the name Maureen Chepkirui and he did not use protection, eventually a child was born. The governor blocked her everywhere after hearing that the student was pregnant.
The university student decided to go to court and seek child support, she is demanding Ksh200,000 monthly child support.
According to the latest court proceedings in Nakuru, Hon. Jemimah Moragwa has restrained university student Maureen Chepkirui from sharing, publishing, or uttering any proceedings relating to Governor Dr. Mutai Erick Kipkoech or matters concerning the minor on any media platform, including Facebook, WhatsApp, X (Twitter), Instagram, or any other forum.
The Court also ordered the Governor to pay an all-inclusive monthly amount of Ksh 25,000, instead of the Ksh 200,000 that had been sought by the university student.
The Ksh 25,000 monthly amount is broken down as follows:
Food – Ksh 5,000 per month
Shelter/Rent – Ksh 10,000 per month
Clothing – Ksh 5,000 per month
Entertainment – Ksh 5,000 per month
SHA medical insurance – covered for the entire year
The Court also declined the request by the Governor’s lawyers, Mr. Philip Langat and Mr. Felix Keaton, to summon the university student.
Instead, the Court directed that a Children’s Officer’s report be filed within seven days.
The matter will be heard again on 6th October 2026.
