Kenyan MPs have passed a bill that will stop or make it illegal to stream live the 2027 elections. The MPs believe that livestreaming will be a recipe for violence and that stopping it will bring calm. They passed that Media will be invited by IEBC for the announcement of the final presidential result and other seats.
Without Livestreaming, Kenyans won’t find a chance to scrutinize the results. They will not be allowed to stream the result either.
Majority of Kenyans believe that the main reason livestreaming has been stopped is to allow for manipulation of the results. They want to hide something so that we cannot ask them questions.
