Experts say it’s not wise to own a car in Nairobi when your salary is not more than Ksh 80,000.

The experts add that for you to own a car, you must have at least Ksh 12,000 every month for fuel and maintenance, parking space and at least a specious house to live so that you can maintain your ego.

Buying a car in Kenya elevates someone to a new level, where he changes friends, people he hangs out with, where he takes lunch and above all, what he carries in the pocket. All these come with a cost.

Analysts say, for you to survive in this life you have to live in  very nice apartments, that cost not less than Ksh 15,000.If this apartment  must have a parking yard, then rent must be in the range of Ksh 15,000-Ksh21,000

If your salary is Ksh 80,000,you will receive Ksh 62,000 in your bank account after taxation. Now,subtract Ksh 15,000 to rent,Ksh 7,000 to lunch,Ksh 12,000 to fuel,Ksh 5,000 to miscellaneous and Ksh 10,000 to shopping .You will realize that you’ll remain with less than Ksh 10,000 to save.

Now tell me,if your salary is Ksh 80,000 and your are having a family to feed and school fees to pay, will you remain with anything to invest with?

If you decide not to own a car,am sure you will save at least Ksh 25,000
