It seems Rift Valley politics has become more complicated than we anticipated.Kimani Ichungwa,One of Uhuru’s most trusted legislatures has confirmed to the whole nation that the President has done away with his Deputy,Ruto.
While speaking at Citizen TV yesterday, Mr Ichungwa said,again and again:
“In fact Uhuru doesn’t need Ruto at this time, he can win the presidency without his support”,end of quote. As if that was not enough, he repeated:”Uhuru can win without Ruto’s support”, period.
Kimani’s statement means that Uhuru is not interested to have Ruto as his running mate, but he is keen to have Gideon Moi and Isaac Ruto on board.
Over the weekend Gideon, who recently declared that KANU will support Uhuru’s re-election, launched serious political attacks on Ruto.
In Baringo, Gideon told Ruto to his face:
“Let’s not talk about 2022 and let me whisper something to you (Ruto) you do not own the Kalenjin vote.”
“Our support for Uhuru does not automatically mean we will support you in 2022,”
It is at this point , you will notice that since Mama Ngina Kenyatta and Uhuru visited Moi senior, the battle lines were drawn and Gideon was given a go ahead to reduce Ruto into a no body so that Uhuru can say “Gideon Tosha” in 2022.In the meantime,Uhuru will simply have Ruto as his Deputy so that he can get the 1.9 million Kalenjin votes, after that he will tame Ruto and start dealing directly with Gideon Moi.Remember Uhuru has a debt to repay against Moi,so there is no way Uhuru will endorse Ruto for presidency.
Information we have gathered reveals that the Kikuyu population fear Ruto like a plague.Wahome Thuku,one of Ruto’s critics confirmed this in a Facebook post:
“IF a Mûgîkûyû says or even insinuates that Uhuru Kenyatta can win votes in the RV without anyone’s help, you will be attacked with insults and abuses from all directions by your fellow Gîkûyû brothers and sisters. You are supposed to put it clearly that in the RV Uhuru is William Ruto’s puppet, oxygen and hemoglobin. That without Ruto, Uhuru is nothing zero. What a way to present your King. No wonder even Mama Ngina Kenyatta feels that her son has become a doormat for Sugoi brother.
I wonder whether there is any Luo who would insult another Luo if he said Raila can get votes at the Coast without Joho.
I think my fellow Kikuyu brothers and sisters are being held captive by the Kalenjin. You can detect fear in anything they say or do, even in the thinking.
I’m not sure the Kalenjin would present Ruto as so subservient to Uhuru. Look at the present debate, Kikuyu’s are pleading with people not to “annoy” the Kalenjin. On their part the Kalenjin are daring Uhuru to dump Ruto. Who comes out as the weakling here.
Even if its true that Uhuru would not make inroads in North Rift without Ruto, as a Mt Kenya descendant, don’t make it look so obvious. Don’t insult any Mûgîkûyû brother who says it in public. Unless Uhuru is as weak as that”, he wrote
Wahome’s Facebook post has what we call gospel truth.Now with these facts in your head,we don’t expect the GEMA community to line up at 3 am in 2022 to vote for Ruto,but they will be more than willing to vote for Gideon Moi.
What is happening in Rift Valley and between Ruto and Gideon Moi is the creation of none other than Uhuru Kenyatta.
