Choosing the best web hosting company has never been an easy task, it requires in-depth research.

There are several reviews online, where each blogger gives his/her opinion about a specific web hosting company but only a few provide information based on experience. Before you decided to go for a given web hosting company, make sure the information that led you into making a decision is from a blogger with firsthand experience. Here at Venas News,we provide information based on our experience with various web hosting company such that when you start hosting your blog, we will together share the experience.

If you are new in blogging, you should ask yourself these questions:

  • What is the cost of web hosting services?
  • How will the company respond when my website traffic exceeds resources allocated?
  • How long will I stick with this company before I migrate my site to another company?
  • What are the negative reviews of this company?
  • What are the additional free services offered by the company?
  • Will my website be exposed to hackers?
  • How is the customer service?

When I was starting as a blogger,I first took a cheap plan with EAC Directory but the company ended up messing me.The management sided with the government to act as a witness against me in a case…I divorced them. I moved my websites to Kenya Web Experts. Kenya Web Experts have excellent customer service…their plans are also cheap-I like them. But the only problem was that Venasnews outgrew their plans. This website became a mammoth, in a month it receives over 1 million visitors. Due to its heavy traffic, I decided to migrate it to Kinsta.Currently venasnews.co.ke is hosted by Kinsta, and I would tell you why I selected this company.

If you try to open any story in venasnews website, you will discover that loading speed is superb. You will also notice that this site has never been offline even a single second.Kinsta uses Google technology, which makes their servers extremely effective. Every client at Kinsta is happy. Sometimes my website receives 2000 visitors per second, especially if I post a viral article. With all this traffic, Kinsta servers have never been overwhelmed.

Kinsta works in such a way that if your site exhausts resources allocated to it,they charge you $1 per extra GB of bandwidth instead of suspending your site. I find this idea appropriate for viral websites.

Kinsta’s minimum plan costs $30 per month and you are allowed to pay on monthly basis. If you want to host, you can click here to visit their site.

Over the years I have built sites, sold some and remained with others. Some of my websites are hosted at Bluehost. There is one thing I love about Bluehost.I have a total of 10 website in a single shared hosting plan. The good thing about Bluehost is that you are allowed to host even 30 websites in a single hosting plan, which gives you opportunity to provide hosting services to other bloggers.Bluehost also registers domains, unlike Kinsta which does web hosting only.

Bluehost is currently hosting over 2 million websites, which shows the trust people have towards this company. But the only problem with Bluehost is that it’s only good for small and medium websites. Websites that receive more than 20,000 daily visits are hosted by Kinsta

As a new blogger you have to do your calculations well. If I were you(I have experience),I would go straight for Kinsta, where I don’t have to incur migration costs in case my blog goes viral.Alternatively, especially if I am constraint financially, I would start hosting with Bluehost such that if my website goes viral,I would upgrade from shared hosting to a dedicated server. You can check Bluehost plans through this link

When I was starting,I talked about factors to consider before you choose a web hosting company, one of the factors is, what happens when your website is hacked. You will notice that small companies don’t have systems of preventing hacking. This is one sensitive areas a blogger should consider.Kinsta have their own https, which prevents hacking. The company also helps remove malware from websites without costs.Bluehost on the other hand have SiteLock, which is meant to prevent your site from hackers. Since your site is protected, you won’t have to worry about hackers.

I remember when I was hosting my site at EAC Directory, something happened that disturbs me to date. I woke up one morning and found all my websites suspended. Upon asking them, they rudely said I have to upgrade to dedicated server, arguing that failure to do so, they would continue suspending my site. What angered me most was the fact that I had lost traffic, readers, trust and money while they suspended my websites. I thought, instead of suspending my sites, they could have charged me more for using extra resources. Out of desperation and anger, I moved my sites to Kenya Web Experts, who treated me with respect and courtesy any client would want from a service provider. I still refer new bloggers to Kenya Web Experts.

I always advise publishers to choose a web hosting company they would stick to for as long as they are publishing. Migrating a website with content to another hosting company is very expensive. It’s therefore important to overlook something like hosting cost and consider long term relationship with a company. This is the reason I recommend Bluehost and Kinsta for any blogger who wants to achieve greatness in blogosphere.
