Dowry payment is a norm in the African setting, but calculating the amount to pay is what makes the process complicated. Someone has come up with a formula to simplify the process.
The formula was released last month and already several Kenyan men have employed it.It states that before the man pays dowry in terms of cash, he has to count the number of men his girlfriend has slept with. The least number of men a modern woman can sleep with before marriage is 4, others sleep with up to 30.Assuming she has slept with 4 men, the dowry a man should pay is, the parents’ asking price divide by the number of men she has slept with plus one. We add one because already the girl has slept with her current boyfriend.
If the asking price is Ksh 1 million and the woman has slept with 3 men,the dowry you should pay is Ksh1 million, divide by 3 men plus 1,which comes to Ksh250,000.
We assume that the more a woman sleeps with men, the more her value deteriorates. Are we together?!!!
