Thieves have been caught! In the new Cyber Crime law, individuals who receive money via MPESA from a wrong number and don’t bother to reverse it will be fined Ksh 200,000 or be jailed for two years or both.
The new laws will come into effect in 14 days, which means that from that time if someone sends you money by mistake and you withdraw it even after they plead with you, you will be arrested and fined or fined and jailed.
Kenyans have a tendency of withdrawing money sent by mistake even after the sender pleads. This act will stop as from May 2018,that’s if the law is not challenged in court.
