Education CS Amina Mohammed has assured Kenyans that Helb will collaborate with the police to track down helb defaulters.

Speaking at a Nairobi hotel where she launched HELB’s five-year strategic plan, the CS said defaulters will be tracked through their work stations. Others will be tracked through their M-Pesa and Airtel Money transactions. “We hope by doing we will increase the resources that are available to HELB to support others.” Amina went on, “We want them to become reliable and responsible citizens by repaying their debt.”

If you received helb loan and utilized it, you are required to start repaying immediately you complete school. Currently, there are 74,000 helb defaulters who have made the work of the financier difficult. It’s for this reason that helb has decided to track down the defaulters with the help of the police.

Even after defaulters were listed with CRB,it’s still difficult to get the defaulters since majority are either outside the country or jobless. Others are in private businesses.

If you know you’re a defaulter, it’s good you start paying as early as today.
