If you have lost a birth certificate in Kenya, the process of replacing it is easy. Now that we have Huduma Centre, the only thing to know is where to locate Huduma Centre and the documents you should carry to Huduma Centre.
When you want to replace the birth certificate, follow these steps:
- Visit any Huduma Center near you, the following are documents to carry:
Carry your National Identity Card
At Huduma Centre you will be required to pay between Ksh 50 and Ksh150 as listed below:
| Cost: | Birth certificate with no amendments – Ksh 60 Birth certificate with amendments on the child’s names – Ksh 100 Birth certificate with amendments on the parent’s names – Ksh 100 Birth certificate with amendments on the child’s and parent’s names-Ksh 140 |
So you are required to carry at least Ksh 150
Present your ID Number to Huduma Centre employees. You will be presented a form which you will fill and wait for 10 days for the replacement of the lost birth certificate.
Alternatively, visit Registrar of deaths and births located Bishop Plaza Upper Hill.That is where you will be taken through the process of renewing your birth certificate.
