Dr. Dan Gikonyo is the Chief Cardiologist at The Karen Hospital, Nairobi. He is also the Founder director of The Karen Hospital and Heart to Heart Foundation.

He is a well-known cardiologist with over 43 years’ experience in the medical field. Dr Dan Gikonyo also runs cardic clinics at The Karen Hospital Nakuru Branch located at Tower One Building Moi Road, The Karen Hospital Nyeri Branch located at Caledonia House Kenyatta Avenue, Nyeri town and The Karen Hospital Meru Branch located on Njuri Ncheke Street as a cardiologist in all the clinics.

He has been instrumental in mentoring and training of majority of adult cardiologists in the country and in the region. Dr. Anthony K. Gikonyo – Physician/ Cardiologist

Dr. Antony Gikonyo is an interventional and non-invasive adult cardiologist at The Karen Hospital, Nairobi and a Cardiologist at The Karen Hospital Nairobi CBD Branch located at Cardinal Otunga Plaza First Floor next to Holy Family Basilica.

Prior to taking up full-time private practise under the Nairobi Heart Clinic at The Karen Hospital, Dr. Antony Gikonyo worked at Kenyatta National Hospital and Mbagathi Hospital. Dr. Premanand Ponoth – Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgeon

Dr. Premanand Ponoth is the Chief of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at The Karen Hospital, Nairobi. He joined the institution in early 2017.
Dr. Premanand has been a Cardiac surgeon for more than 25 years and has performed more than 15,000 surgeries since he started practising.

At The Karen Hospital, Nairobi alone, he has been able to perform over 150 open heart operations since he joined the institution. Dr. Premanand performs CABG surgeries on “beating hearts” which means, the heart is not stopped. In other similar operations the heart is usually stopped and then a heart-lung machine takes over the functions of the heart.

Dr Betty Gikonyo is one of the Founders and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Karen Hospital, Nairobi.
She is also the co-founder of Heart to Heart Foundation, a charity organization that assists children from needy backgrounds to get open heart surgery. She is a renowned paediatric cardiologist with over 40 years of experience in the medical field.

She was the first Kenyan female cardiologist and has been instrumental in mentoring and training of majority paediatric cardiologists in the country.

She is both an interventional and non-invasive paediatric cardiologist. In addition to the above, she is also a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Paediatric Cardiology, University of Minnesota, USA and has a Masters of Medicine in Paediatrics, (University of Nairobi), Kenya, Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (University of Nairobi) and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine from the same university.
