At least 45 people have been killed and dozens injured in India following an explosion that destroyed a two-story restaurant.
According to police reports, more than 100 people were having breakfast at the restaurant located in Madhya Pradesh, India when the explosion occurred. The blast claimed 44 lives on the spot and injured more than 60 people.
Eye witnesses said that the blast was caused by the burst of a gas cylinder, whose effect spread to the next building.
“There was a second explosion, there were more casualties,” Inspector B.L. Gaur said
There are reports that the death toll might rise since rescue operations are underway.
The restaurant was situated in a busy and crowded street, which explains the huge number of casualties.
