On the sweet day,Isaac Nyaribo took the contacts of a girl. He then slept with her few days ago. Now he is in jail serving 20 years in prison.
Dauglas Otiso has given the chronological events leading to his jail term. Here is the statement:
“Praise the lord. I salute you all in the name of Jesus hoping that you are doing fine. I’m born again in christ and eternally grateful for his grace.
I’ve decided to address you all concerning the viral story of Isaac Nyaribo who has been one of my sons and group member for years now. Isaac has been greatly dedicated to his mission and music carreer.
To those who are spreading rumours and judging Isaac harshly, I wish to set the record straight. Isaac is indeed in prison having been sentenced to serve 20 years. I wish to give a clear, fair and credible chronology of events that led to the arrest and prosecution of Isaac without in any way interfering with the ongoing court processes. Therefore my report should be treated with no prejudice whatsoever.
It all started in 2019, when Isaac who was then a young single ambitious man accompanied me to gospel mission at Nairobi for a few days. Several musicians from Kisii also attended the said mission. It was here that Isaac met a girl with whom they exchanged contacts. I wasn’t aware of this meeting since Isaac never mentioned it to me until the case came up. Back home in Kisii, Isaac maintained communication with this girl for a few days . She told him that she was an orphan who was struggling in the hands of relatives and neighbours. Later, she agreed to travel to Kisii to Visit Isaac at Ogembo. This assertion is later to be confirmed in court by the same girl. According to Isaac’s statement, the girl informed him that she had finished schooling and her overgrown stature could not raise suspicion in him that he was dealing with a school girl. After 3 days, Isaac gave her fare to travel back home since he was supposed to leave for another crusade at Meru Which could last for several days. The girl comes from Nyamira. Unknowing to Isaac, this girl had secretly established communication yet with another boy within Kisii. So she left Isaac’s house and moved in to another boy’s house. I went to Meru for the above-mentioned crusade and returned a week later together with Isaac. I headed to my home while Isaac remained behind to do so shopping at the Ogembo stage. It was at this point that a land cruiser pulled besides him and had him arrested upon confirming his name. I was alerted to this development and I rushed down to find out what had happened since we’d just arrived that morning from Meru. In the land cruiser was Isaac, the girl, and two other boys who were found in the house where the girl had moved to. In this case, Isaac was treated as the first contact person with the girl and the CID had all the communication as evidence. They were taken to Manga police station since the girl is from Nyamira. Upon arrival, the two boys were released and Isaac was remanded as the main suspect. His father was present and he decided to plead his case with the girl’s father aside . The girl’s father demanded for a huge sum of money to drop the case. Isaac’s father rushed home and sold a piece of land to save his son from imprisonment. Upon recieving the cash, the girl’s father promised not to attend mentioning and subsequently weaken the evidence. Out of sheer ignorance, Isaac’s father did not realise that defilement case was expeditiously handled by the state and not the complainant. He thought he had arrested the situation but he was wrong. Isaac’s uncle produced a title deed that was used to bail him out and the case proceeded. Unexpectedly, when the case was mentioned, the girl’s father appeared in court and gave his statement together with his daughter. The girl explained to court how she had lied to Isaac concerning her education and being an orphan. Her statement was similar to what Isaac had written.
This case dragged through 2020, 2021, 2023, 2024. Unknown to me, Isaac was continuously recieving court summons and apparently did not attend any of the sessions. This amounted to contempt. One day, Isaac’s uncle decided to withdraw his title deed from the court because he wanted to sell his land. He was required to produce the suspect who he was defending. He led the police to rearrest Isaac at his home. He was quickly found in contempt of court and was was sent to prison for 3 weeks without bail. His father was forced to sell another portion of his land to fight for his son. At this time Isaac was now married with one kid. He had told me that case imeisha. So this development shocked me deep. After selling land, we managed to secure his release on bail using his in-law’s payslip. Things changed when his case was handed to a different magistrate who was visibly stricter. The case started afresh. Things moved on until we thought everything was becoming easier. When we went back for the final hearing, Isaac was remanded yet again!! The court sent an agent to Isaac’s home to investigate his criminal record. A good report was written about him .
Finally on the judgement day, after 21 days in the remand, the judge expressed his sympathy towards Isaac. We thought he had dismissed the case. Still he went ahead to hand him a 21 year sentence. We were exceedingly shocked, infuriated, disappointed and everything. His wife and parent were in tears. I have the video of the ruling but for privacy i won’t play it .
I immediately convened an emergency committee consisting of his family, his pastor an myself where we decided to enlist a new appeal lawyer and we subsequently appealed the case at the court of appeal two months ago. Unfortunately all the court of appeal judges are currently on leave until 2026 end of January or early February. This means Isaac has to stay in prison until our appeal is heard and determined. However the appeal process is expensive and complicated. Isaac’s family is already drained to it’s knees. I’m making this public appeal since we’ll need all the financial help out there. We’ll need your help to help our brother. Mistakes happen, kindly treat him as your younger ambitious brother and fit in the shoes of his depressed family. My contacts are on my Facebook Profile for any further inquiry. Kindly extend your kind support once we’ll call upon you to do so. Thank you and may God bless you”
