Chamgei FM, which air programmes in Kalenjin language, was on Thursday morning shut down under unclear circumstances.

Sources say, after Nandi MP Alfred Keter wound up his visit to the station on Wednesday morning, a senior politician from Rift Valley was not impressed by the manner in which he was being attacked by callers. The politician ordered for immediate shut down of the station until further notice.

Meanwhile, several presenters from the station were seen stranded outside the station, fearing that the station might be closed forever.

One of the journalists was overheard saying they have been told not to invite people who talk ill of the government.
