Citizen TV is in trouble after top journalists, Janet Mbugua and Hussein Mohammed resigned.

The two news anchors tendered their resignation this week after the management refused to listen to them. Janet, who currently earns Ksh800,000 per month was demanding Ksh1.2 million while Hussein Mohammed demanded Ksh 1 million. But the management argued the salaries the two journalists were demanding are unrealistic.

Their demands were motivated by Jeff Koinange’s entry into the station.Jeff, who was sacked from Standard Group  early this year, joined Citizen TV this month and was offered a basic salary of Ksh750,000 and allowances, which push his gross pay to Ksh2 million.

Hussein and Janet have written resignation letters to the Head of Human Resources. They will leave the station end of this month.

Sources within Citizen TV inform that the two have been given lucrative offers by competitors. It’s reported that Janet will earn Ksh1.5 million in the new station while Hussein will pocket a whooping Ksh 1.2 million.
