Mama Ngina Kenyatta was awarded on Friday for her role in Kenya’s pre-independence struggle and eventual liberation of the great Kenya.
The award in South Africa identified Mrs. Kenyatta as one of Africa’s greatest who helped liberate Kenya from the painful and ruthless colonial rule.
Former first lady and mother to President Uluru Kenyatta were among 15 women who were on Friday recognized as the foremost heroines of Africa and the world at large.
First lady and her daughter in-law Margaret Kenyatta received the award on her behalf at a colorful ceremony held in South Africa.
