High court has ordered the Teachers Service Commission to effect the 50%-60% salary increment for teachers as earlier been ruled.
The ruling is a big blow to the Teachers Service Commission who had moved to court earlier this month to appeal the salary increment award granted by the industrial court. The court further instructed the TSC to implement the payment failure to which the court will dismiss the appeal.
The increment will force the National Treasury to factor in at least an additional Sh59.5 billion to cater for the increment.Currently Treasury allocates teachers Sh119 billion annually.
