President Uhuru Kenyatta Appoints Fatimah Ahmed the first woman Brigadier in military Reshuffle

President Kenyatta on Tuesday appointed Fatimah Ahmed the first woman Brigadier in the country.

Ahmed had previously held the post of Colonel at the Kenya Navy, the highest position by a woman in the disciplined forces.

The President also promoted Brigadier Levi Mghalu to Major General and Navy Commander.

In other changes, Colonel Daniel Kimutai Pyaban was also promoted to Brigadier and appointed Commander Kenya Rapid Deployment Capability, while Colonel Martin Kizito Onyango was also promoted to Brigadier and appointed Chief of Personnel (Defence HQs).

Colonel Henry Noah Ofulah was also promoted to Brigadier and appointed as Commander Kahawa Garrison with Colonel Patrick Muta Nderitu promoted to Brigadier and appointed Director International Peace Support Training Center.

Other changes also saw Colonel Godfrey Aumah Peter Buluma promoted to Brigadier and appointed chief of operations, plans and training, (Kenya Army HQ), Colonel James Magige Gitiba was promoted to Brigadier and appointed chief of logistics (HQ Kenya) and Colonel Simon Wachira promoted to Brigadier and appointed Deputy Commandant/ Chief Instructor at the Defence Staff College.
