Naiobi Governor Evans Kidero has banned AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia from playing in Nairobi stadia.
The decision comes a day after the match between the two teams in Nyayo National Stadium was called off following violence which originated from AFC fans.
The violence that broke out led to the loss of millions of property in the city, some belonging to the Nairobi County. The fans went to the streets uprooting trees and destroying anything that was not pleasing to their wyes.
The furious governor has now demanded compensation from the Kenya Premier League organizers and the clubs.
“The county government has told the management of the two oldest clubs to relocate the scheduled matches to other areas,” Reads a statement from the county
The two teams don’t see eye to eye when they are engaging each other in the field, but they are good friends off the pitch.
