High Court judge Mumbi Ngugi has ruled that closing of the private schools by the Government was illegal.
Ngugi argued that private schools should not be forced to close down simply because of the issues between the Government and public schools teachers. She further reiterated that it’s upon the management of those schools to provide security incase for their children.
On Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta directed that all Public and Private schools be closed down until further notice, citing security reasons as the main reason for closing private schools. But on Monday, most private schools in the country were conducting their businesses as usual; even former President Moi’s Kabarak School was in session.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has maintained that his government is not ready to pay; he has ordered teachers to resume duty. Teachers are also not ready to go back to class empty handed.
