Kenyans will no longer send money to wrong people through the popular mobile money transfer M-Pesa.This is a relief to many Kenyans who have lost millions of money through M-Pesa service.
On Thursday, Safaricom introduced a new functionality dubbed Hakikisha, where customers are given option of confirming the name of the recipient before sending the money. This option will give the customer 15 seconds to approve or reject the transaction after which the money is wired to the recipient
Previously, customers had to call Safaricom Customer Care to get assistance after sending money to the wrong people. Sometimes the recipient could rush to withdraw the cash and stop using the line, leaving the sender in stress.
Safaricom also confirmed that the new feature will apply to Lipa na M-Pesa, which is a popular mode of paying for goods and services and also payment of bills.
