Deputy President William Ruto is having hard time selling Jubilee Party in Rift Valley as his people warn him against selling them to Jubilee Party, which they believe is TNA.
During the New Year Party in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, got hard time on stage when they tried to sell Jubilee Party to the people. The noise was so heavy that the two leaders decided not to spoil the party; they retreated and later publicly apologized.
Despite the Deputy President traversing the country trying to sell the newly formed party, his subjects are highly uncomfortable with the new vehicle for Jubilee coalition. Majority of Rift Valley residents still believe Ruto sold them to TNA even if he has been seen as the main architect behind the formation of the new party.
One region that is totally opposed to the new party is South Rift. Sources from the ground indicate that Isaac Ruto’s influence is growing by the day as William Ruto’s popularity shrink. The shift in loyalty from the Deputy President will be evident during Kericho by-election in March 2016.Though the new senator might win on a Jubilee Party ticket, the margin between the KANU aspirant and the new Senator will be very slim; a clear indication that 2017 will not be a smooth ride for Jubilee administration in the region.
Some of the elected legislatures from Rift Valley are uncomfortable with the Jubilee Party, but they fear opposing it publicly. But there are more than 20 elected leaders from the region who have publicly denounced the party. Some of them include Alfred Keter, Isaac Ruto, Gideon Moi ,…,the list is endless.
