More than 10 campuses belonging to Kisii University are expected to be closed, according to the Commission for University Education (CUE)
The commission gave the University 90 days to comply with set out regulations but the local university failed to comply.
The commission stated that the university will only remain with three campuses down from 13.
The campuses to be closed include Eldoret, Eldama Ravine, Nyamira, Kabarnet, Migori, Ogembo, Keroka, Kehancha, Kapenguria and Isebania
Other universities also face closure after the commission gave them 90 days to meet the minimum threshold.
The list is as follows.
The campuses, as reported by the paper, are: Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (Kisumu); Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Nakuru); Kisii University campuses in Kisumu, Kericho and Kitale; Laikipia University campuses in Nakuru, Eldoret and Naivasha; Moi University campuses in Kitale and Odera Akang’o; University of Eastern Africa-Baraton (Eldoret campus); University of Eldoret (Eldoret CBD) and University of Kabianga (Kapkatet campus).
