Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho is in tears after the Kenya Revenue Authority cut his income by closing his two companies at KPA on Thursday 28, 2016.

The closure was followed by condemnation from Mombasa residents and opposition leader Raila Odinga, who termed the move as economic sabotage and intimidation.

On Friday, KRA released a letter explaining the reason why they closed the business.

KRA,Through Commission General John Njiraini, cited tax evasion as the reason why they closed down Joho’s business

“Recent incidents and investigations have raised serious concerns over the likely involvement of some CFSs in actions that abet tax evasion,”

“Commission of such acts, not only undermines tax collection, but in addition frustrates broader national development objectives aimed at promoting Kenyan enterprise,”said Njiraini
