Chuka University has been closed indefinitely over student unrest.
The students started demonstrating following what they termed ‘rigging of union elections’ in favour of a certain candidate.
A university bus was burnt during the riots while several students were arrested.
“Following the students’ unrest and the disturbance of the peace at the institution, the University Management and Senate have decided to close the university until further notice”, read a letter from the institution
