Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru has officially announced she will contest for Nairobi Governorโs seat in 2017.
Her announcement comes two weeks after she met a group of 200 women groups drawn from Nairobi, who assured her of support in the forthcoming general elections.
Waiguruโs official announcement is likely to cause discomfort in the Jubilee Party, where several leaders have expressed interests in the seat. Among those likely to contest for the seat under Jubilee Party include Nominated Member of Parliament Johnson Sakaja,Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and Dennis Waweru.
It is almost obvious,Waiguru will be given the ticket-ย she isย closest to President Uhuru Kenyatta-which will see Sonko cross over to ODM.
If it happens that Sonko contests for the seat on ODM ticket against Anne Waiguru,then Waiguru shouldย forget about being the governor in 2017-even Kidero will beat her.
