Employers in Kenya nowadays require an individual with work experience of at least one in order to consider him/her for employment. In most cases it’s very difficult to secure employment when you are fresh from graduate. But don’t be discouraged, you can get a job without work experience, and this is what you are supposed to do.
Companies like KRA, EABL, UAP, CBA, PWC, Delloitte,KPMG,and many other well-paying institutions in Kenya employ fresh graduates for the position of Graduate Trainee. In order to join the group, you must have performed well in college. What I would like to urge college students is to ensure they score at least Upper Second Class in order to qualify for such competitive positions.
Secondly, most companies nowadays employ fresh graduates with professional training. If you want to get your dream job minus work experience, ensure you pursue a professional paper like CS, CIFA, CPA, CFA or ACCA.This will certainly give you a job.
Another most important thing to do is identify an institution that offers internship and be attached there as you seek for greener pastures. You can even volunteer with NGOs such as Kenya Red Cross.
The last thing to do is to enrol for master’s degree while you are searching for a job. Having a masters qualification can enable you secure employment as a part time lecturer.
