Veteran Nairobi Student Leader Babu Owino won SONU elections on Saturday to become the new SONU chairman, beating his arch rival Mike Jacobs.
Mike was leading when vote counting was underway but tables turned towards the end of counting.Babu was declared the winner despite protests from Jacobs and his many followers.
Babu’s win resulted to violence on University way, which disrupted traffic flow for the better part of Saturday.
It was a double tragedy for Jacobs, who was beaten by Babu last week in front of a shocked crowd in Westlands Nairobi.
Babu’s win makes him the longest serving student leader in the world. He deserves to be in the Guinness Book of Records.
