Stephen Ngila Nthenge woke up one day after realizing he was unable to sire children and headed straight to the Nairobi Hospital. Together with his wife, Ms Jackline Mwende, they consulted a doctor to determine who had fertility problems. The result showed that Stephen was impotent, but gave Jackline clean bill of health.
Before the exercise, Stephen had accused his wife of being infertile. He even went ahead and married several times.
After reaching home, out of jealous and fear that his wife could leave him, Stephen took a panga and chopped off his wife’s hands. He then made deep cuts in Jackline’s forehead and other parts of the body.
After doing the act, he tried to escape but villagers were quick to catch up with him.
He was arraigned at Wamunyu law courts this week where he denied the charge, but according to Kenyan laws, he is likely to face life imprisonment.
