President Uhuru Kenyatta has strongly condemned doctors’ strike, saying the striking doctors will be taken a stern action.
Through blogger Dennis Itumbi,Uhuru said:
“I can assure you, if the ongoing talks spearheaded by the religious leaders fail, we will take action. We will sort you out. This is blackmail. ”
“We will not succumb to threats and intimidation. Kwani hawa madaktari wanafikiria sisi ni wajinga aje?
” You only work for two hours in government facilities and then run to your private clinics! ”
“We have offered you better salaries than those in private hospitals. Medical interns in government hospitals will earn more than what doctors at Aga Khan, Nairobi, Mater hospitals earn…”
Uhuru’s statement means that after all avenues to solve the strike have been exhausted, the doctors will be taken to court, which means that a jail term is awaiting the officials.
