Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho has been put under house arrest.
The governor, who was blocked from crossing Nyali Bridge, was ordered by the police to go back to his house in Nyali and wait until President Kenyatta finishes his function in Mtongwe.
“I have been put under office arrest until President Uhuru is done with his function,”Joho confirmed
Currently, the president is launching the Mtongwe Ferry services, after several years of waiting. The famous ferry capsized in 1994 and killed several Kenyans.
A showdown was expected at the venue between the president and governor Joho, which is why the government could not allow the flamboyant Sultan to attend the event.
