Outgoing president, Uhuru Kenyatta, has endorsed Peter Kenneth for Nairobi gubernatorial race.
“I am calling on you Kirwara residents to pray for your son so that he can win the Jubilee ticket in Nairobi,” Uhuru said while touring Muranga over the weekend.
The president also urged Muranga residents to nominate the best candidate in the forthcoming Jubilee nomination exercise, adding that he has no preference to any candidate.
“I have no preferred candidate here and I urge the people to nominate the best person who will work with me in the next term, all I urge is you maintain peace in this electioneering period. “said the president.
In Nairobi, Kenneth is facing Mike Sonko, the current Nairobi Senator, who is also the strongest candidate among individuals contesting for the gubernatorial race. But given that the president has thrown his weight behind Kenneth, Sonko’s hopes of winning the Jubilee tickets are as slim as a needle; the only hope for Sonko is to contest as an independent candidate.
It is highly likely that Peter Kenneth will contest against Kidero. The two heavyweights will, however, face stiff competition from a charged Sonko, who has declared he must be in the race.
