Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto has formally joined NASA from Jubilee Party.
Isaac held a closed door meeting with Raila Odinga over the weekend to have him as the fifth partner in the NASA coalition. The meeting, which lasted several hours, touched on the possibility of Isaac becoming a running mate or a powerful member of the coalition, in case NASA forms the next government.
The South Rift political maestro also held a meeting with other NASA partners in Mombasa, which was described as successful. It is believed that this week, Rutto will formally announce his political stand and start campaigning alongside NASA brigade.
The governor has been DP Ruto’s number one critic, especially when he was the Council of Governors Chair. The DP is the main reason the governor formed Chama Cha Mashinani, popularly known as CCM, a party that is giving Jubilee sleepless nights in the South Rift.
CCM has grown tremendously and is expected to have several MCAs and MPs in the next government.
Having developed CCM to become a force to reckon with, Ruto is seen as an asset in NASA and his divorce with Jubilee a blow to the ruling coalition. Even if he doesn’t win his current seat- which I doubt- he will attract thousands of votes into NASA coalition. And as you know,Uhuru is banking on Rift Valley and Central to win the presidency.
