Muthama Quits Wiper Party—-Kalonzo in Trouble

Johnstone Muthama, Kalonzo’s former ally, has quit Wiper Party.

Muthama, who is Kalonzo’s chief financier, quit the party on Friday citing mismanagement and frustrations. He however stated that he would vigorously campaign for NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga to ensure he defeats President Kenyatta in the presidential polls.

At the same time, Muthama explained that he will not defend his senatorial seat—he is the current Senator for Machakos County-but he will play a significant role in NASA campaigns.

Over the past one year, Kalonzo and Muthama have been at logger heads. At one time, the former Vice President accused Muthama of working behind his back to ensure Raila is selected the NASA presidential candidate.Muthama went ahead to ensure Kalonzo missed the opportunity to fly NASA flag.

Muthama’s exit from Wipe Party is a big blow for Raila and his deputy as he is one of the pillars of NASA coalition. It is also a big win for Jubilee Party, which is praying the NASA coalition crumble to near inexistence.
