M.P. Shah Hospital Maternity charges are based on whether a pregnant mother delivers through cesarean or normal delivery.

M.P. Shah Hospital is a multi-super-specialty, state-of-the art, tertiary care hospital with a current capacity of 200 fully functional operational beds, 30 dedicated critical care beds, 10 renal dialysis units and 12 chemotherapy units.

All the above costs are exclusive of NHIF benefit, meaning if you are not registered for NHIF, or are registered but for any reason NHIF does not honour your benefit, you will meet the cost reimbursable by NHIF in addition to the cost of the package.

Note: Elective Caesarean section is not covered with this package the full bill is payable by the patient.

  1.   What is NOT included in the Maternity Packages

The following is a list of situations and complications excluded from the packages:

  • a) Admission more than 2 days bills for Normal Delivery to be paid in full from 3rd day.
    b) Admission for more than 5 days bills for Cesarean Section to be paid in full from the 6th day.
  • c) Vacuum delivery, complicated delivery, twins/breech delivery or instruments used for delivery attract an additional charge of KES 27,000/-
  • d) Mother’s sanitary pack are available at an extra charge (in addition to the maternity package cost)
  • e) Baby item pack is also available at an additional charge
  • f) Resuscitation of new-born – if deemed necessary – will attract additional charges
  • g) In the labour ward two people are allowed while in the delivery only one is allowed, however immediately after delivery the birth partner is NOT allowed.
  • The package may change according to the type of delivery and the outcome.
  •  Any investigations e.g. ultra sound, blood gases for antenatal profile etc. will be charged separately.
  • No refunds are given on maternity packages
