Construction of the biggest airport in the world is almost complete

Located in the Southern Daxin, China, the airport is expected to be complete in 2019 and will have a capacity of 100 million passengers per year.

Zaha Hadid designed the Beijing New Airport Terminal Building, a magnificent structure located at the heart of the airport. The final touches of the structure will be put in the next one year with the entire airport set to be opened for activities in the year 2019.

Innovative design features within the new 700,000 square-meter terminal will include a central hub with six curved spikes with walkways that connect to one point to make navigating the terminal easier.

The initial opening phase of the airport will have four runways, while two later phases will lead to additional areas that can push the airport’s capacity to 100 million passengers a year.

Construction is also taking place on a high-speed railway station that passengers will be able to use to get the airport, the State Council of the People’s Republic of China recently announced.

The new airport will help ease travel times, with Beijing’s Capital International Airport currently recognized as the second busiest in the world.

Currently, Jackson Atlanta International Airport is ranked as the biggest airport in the world with a passenger capacity of 104 million per year. Other airports in this category include Dubai International Airport, Beijing Capital Airport,Los Angeles International Airport, and Tokyo International Airport.
