It has emerged that the attacker at Ruto’s home was only armed with a machete, according to a statement from the police.
The statement said in parts:
“Today at 12:00 noon, an individual approached the outer gate at HE.The Deputy President’s rural residency in Sigoi Uasin Gishu County. In circumstances that are yet unclear,he hit an officer on duty severally with a machete and managed to enter the farm complex”.
The incident attracted over 1,000 police officers, a police helicopter, ID and Recce Squad. The battalion arrived at Ruto’s home to neutralize a man with a machete.
In the home of the second most powerful man in Kenya, police helicopter was seen hovering around as police search for attackers inside and outside Ruto’s compound. Even villagers armed with arrows were not left behind—they were everywhere ready to roast the attacker alive.
As the attacker was being hunted down,DP Ruto was campaigning elsewhere,unmoved.Until now, nothing has been heard from the DP.It’s also not clear whether the attacker was captured.
