Three women are set to make history as the governors of their respective counties. Joyce Laboso has won the Bomet County elections after defeating outgoing governor Isaac Ruto by a huge margin.
From the latest IEBC figures, Laboso has garnered 170981 votes (67.34%) against Isaac ruto,who has garnered 82943 votes (32.66%)
In another contest, Kirinyaga County must have a female governor. Anne Waiguru is squiring out with Martha Karua and as it stands, Waiguru is headed for victory. The current figures from IEBC show that Anne Waiguru is ahead with 140903 votes (53.94%) against Martha Karua’s 106806 votes (40.89%)
In Kitui, veteran politician, Charity Ngilu has defeated David Musila and is hours away from being declared the winner. Figures from the IEBC website show that Ngilu has garnered 139372 votes (47.96%) while David Musila’s votes stand at 91763 votes (31.58%)
It was, however, a disastrous journey for Wavinya Ndeti after she was unable to unseat Alfred Mutua.Mutua is currently leading with 212855 votes (53.3%) against Yasiyo Ndwle’s 177599 votes (44.47%).
The three governors carry the hopes of millions of Kenyan women, who have fought for equal political representation for ages. Congratulations.
