Why Most Kenyans will Prefer Shopping from Kilimall and Jumia after the Plastic Ban
For the past half a century, Kenyans have been shopping from supermarkets and shopping malls, but the trend is coming to an end.Kilimall and Jumia are likely to gain immensely from the implementation of the plastic ban law, which affected local supermarkets to a great extent.
There are several reasons why many shoppers will turn to the biggest online stores in Kenya for shipping; one of the reasons is delivery of goods. Since Jumia and Kilimall deliver goods to your doorstep, there are high chances you will prefer to shop from them as opposed to supermarkets. Men are most likely to be the ones to shop online as they will be ashamed to shop with them a Kiondo
The second reason is that online stores have set prices lower than supermarkets. The reason why the prices are lower is, their expenses on rental stores and security are significantly low -the biggest expenses come from delivery of products and hosting the website.
Plastics have been the main packaging tools for supermarkets and as we talk they are not being used. Shoppers are instructed to carry packaging bags or they simply carry using boxes provided by the supermarkets. In the event that a customer is buying products worth less than Ksh 1,000 and doesn’t have packaging bag, he will be forced to carry it without packaging.
In the coming months,Jumia will be the most beneficiary of this law.
