Common Mistakes Most bloggers Make and How to Avoid Them

If you are a blogger, you might be wondering why your blog isn’t growing despite spending months in developing the site content. Looking at your competitors’ blogs, you see them growing tremendously, by day. In this journey of blogging, most of us have made mistakes and we have leant from them. Since I wouldn’t want you to repeat what I did before I discovered what is better for me, I would like to highlight few mistakes that most bloggers commit, that threaten to kill their blogging career.

  1. Not being yourself

Perhaps you are fond of reading some popular blogs and you realize their content is so amazing. Motivated, you decide to come up with your own blog, and since you don’t have the inner drive, you end up failing miserably. I can tell you for sure, when you don’t have passion in what you do, you won’t go far.

When you try to copy other bloggers, the content and style of writing, you end up losing yourself and eventually you give up. This has happened to several bloggers, who I personally know.

If you sincerely believe you can succeed in this game, you have to be unique, have your own style of writing   so that whoever reads your content knows your style.

  1. Not identifying the right hosting company

Before you start a blog, you have to identify the right hosting company….this is the most important thing in blogging. From my own experience, I almost gave up in blogging because of identifying the worst hosting company but I later found myself after identifying a perfect host.

One of the many frustrations you will get is, your blog getting suspended over and over again because of exhausting allocated resources. As you are aware, if a blog is suspended for a single day, you lose 100 % of your readers for that day which translates to loss of income. I experienced this and I can tell you the feeling wasn’t good.

I did my research and after identifying the best hosting companies, I moved my sites to Kinsta, Liquidweb and Bluehost.Kinsta is hosing this site, Bluehost is hosting three websites while Liquidweb is hosting one of my websites.

You can see the pricing through these links

Kinsta link

Bluehost link

Loquidweb link

Kinsta is suitable for viral websites. Once you host there, your site becomes extremely fast in loading which means its SEO friendly. As you are aware, faster sites rank higher than slower sites in search engines. I am currently in love with Kinsta.

  1. Over relying on Google AdSense

More than 80 % of bloggers around the world use Google AdSense but I can tell you today, if the company decided to close down the platform, those bloggers will die of heart attack. It’s a terrible mistake to over rely on Google AdSense especially if your primary source of income comes from the platform. In order to become an established blogger you should use Google AdSense as a secondary source of income as you fully implement affiliate marketing and direct advertisements.

Assuming you are earning over $2,000 per month and one morning you wake up to devastating email that your AdSense account has been permanently banned…you might commit suicide. To avoid making the mistake other bloggers have made before, try to diversify your income. I personally do direct marketing, I sell my skills and also use affiliate marketing. You will notice that my site does not have AdSense and in future you won’t see even a single banner on the site, but I am extremely comfortable with that….you can start with Kilimall Affiliate marketing if you are interested.

  1. Impatient

One of the many mistakes bloggers make is, they are impatient. I know some of them had the believe that blogging will make them instant millionaires but after joining the profession, they became disappointed. The bloggers had to learn that for them to achieve their goals, they have to build traffic and stand out .When you stand out, your blog will definitely receive direct adverts, high paying AdSense key words and eventually you become the king in this ecosystem.

If you want to make quick money in blogging, I can assure you…you will wait until God forgives Satan.

  1. Not solving readers’ problems

I know most of you are simply writing to get clicks from AdSense. If this is the route you have decided to follow, you won’t go far.Blogs that stand out are those provide solutions to readers’ problems. You know, when a reader decides to open your blog, his intention is to find a solution to what he was looking for and if he finds a solution in your blog, he will come again and again to see what’s new. Blogging is like any other business, it starts from creating the business, developing trust through bridging a gap and finally coming up with a powerful brand. Your intention as a blogger should be to create a powerful brand, a blog that everyone would want to copy.

  1. Not getting committed

I believe you understand that without work, you won’t harvest. Blogging is like any other business, you have to wake up each day, put a lot of effort and wait to harvest. If you believe that you can write a single article and expect to earn millions of dollars, you will be in for a rude shock.

As a blogger, you have to get committed to your blog, produce content, share it and make people know you also exist, that is the only way you can grow.

  1. Using the Wrong WordPress Theme

The right content management system determines the latitude of your blogging career. Immediately you start blogging, you should identify the right theme for your site. I was personally using Blogger when I started my blog but after I realized it wasn’t good for SEO,I migrated my sites to WordPress and later bought WordPress Newspaper Theme, which is doing perfectly for me(you can get the theme here)

If today you are using Blogger or Weebly, you better change to WordPress, because this is where everyone is going.
