Here is a testimony of a Kenyan who is making Ksh30, 000 per month from Kilimall through his Twitter and Facebook accounts.
“ I am Tomothy,a social media user, who is making his daily bread through Kilimall.I joined Kilimall affiliate program four months after finding it hard to get a job. I had just graduated with a diploma in sales and marketing from NIBS and I was in need of something to do, even sweeping so that I can continue living in Nairobi, but things became worse especially after campaigns for elections started.
Since I had studied marketing, I knew a lot about affiliate marketing but I didn’t know of any company in Kenya that had the program.Luckily,I realized Kilimall was launching the program. I managed to attend the launch early this year and I was excited about the commissions.
After I signed up, I was accepted…it’s easy to be accepted into the program even if you don’t have a website. Immediately I joined, I started marketing the company products on social media. At first the link I shared received no sales and it took me about 12 days to get the first sale. I remember the first item I sold was an Infinix phone that cost Ksh 13, 300, which resulted to Ksh530 in commissions. That first sale motivated me, I realized if I made more efforts, I would sell even more.
My strategy in this business was simple: Every morning I would wake up, open my Kilimall dashboard to see statistics, open Kilimall website to see new items, then write a short post describing one of the items that could sale. I then shared the links on various Facebook groups, Twitter accounts and WhatsApp groups. From the sharing, one or two people would buy an item.
Over time, I have learnt a lot and I have at the same time known how to market and who to target. One lesson I have learnt is that money from affiliate program does not come easy unless you employ a strategy. I have also realized that you won’t sell anything unless you have a well-targeted group. After learning few things, my target has become Kilimani mums fans, Group Kenya and other active Facebook groups. I also share my links between fans comments of popular personalities.
After working hard for five months, I am now able to make Ksh800-Ksh2, 000 per day from the program. But I can say it’s not easy as it requires a lot of patient.
Right now, I am not interested in any job, after all no employer will give me a salary equivalent to what I make here.I am comfortable because I wake up late and sleep early and I don’t report to anyone.
