Israel President Benjamin Netanyahu did not turn up for the swearing in of President Uhuru Kenyatta contrary to reports that he would attend the event.

Netanyahu had indicated earlier this week that he would attend the event, only to change his mind in the last minute, forcing the organizers to give his reserved seat to another dignitary.

Uhuru’s inauguration was to attract over 40 presidents but less than 15, mostly from Eastern Africa, turned up. The event attracted less than 1European presidents. Even so, the ceremony will go on.

Uhuru will be sworn in by Chief Justice David Maraga before 2 pm and he will use the Bible his father,Jomo Kenyatta, used in 1964.
