AdSense is the best contextual ad network, it feeds over 2 million publishers. I am one of those who have benefitted immensely from the platform. I wish to describe how it feels when you receive your first payment as a blogger.
I remember it was in 2015 when I first applied for AdSense.My first shock came when they disapproved my application. I figured out what I had done wrong based on the reply they sent me for rejecting my application. After one week, I reapplied for approval. Shockingly, they rejected my account again.
I almost gave up but I told myself, “If Oprah Winfrey made it in life, what can prevent me from following her footsteps?”. Honestly, for close to one month, I didn’t have sufficient sleep-all that I thought of was the trick to use to get my AdSense account approved. I tried the last time and this time around it was approved. I remember vividly the feeling I had when I saw the message from Google, “Congratulation, your account has been approved. However, the adverts will start appearing after few hours”, the message read in parts.
The following day, I logged into my AdSense dashboard and noticed it was counting pounds. I actually never believed it was real money…I had to wait until the cash is sent into my account.
The following month, on 21st,May 2015,I received a message in my email account informing me that money has been sent into my bank account. That time I was eating, I left the food on the table and went to the bedroom to celebrate. I couldn’t believe it’s me who was earning money online. The total amount I had earned the previous month was $150.This money seemed much to me as it was the first time I pocketed money from a side hustle.
The following day I took a shower at exactly 4 am, I normally wake up at 6 but this time some inner drive forced me out of bed. After taking tea, I rushed to Nairobi CBD to withdraw Ksh5,000 to treat myself. The first shock I got was that my account had Ksh123,the amount sent had not reflected. Out of curiousity,I went straight to the counter to question why they weren’t releasing MY MONEY.They told me to wait until 9.30 am.I went straight to Uhuru Park, sat on a bench as I waited for the right time to withdraw the cash.All this time,I was looking at my phone,in fact in an interval of 5 minutes. At exactly 9.20,I stood and rushed to one of the ATM machines in town. OH there is money here! My heart beat fast as ATM showed my account had been credited. I authoritatively ordered the machine to cough out Ksh5,000.
Bouncing like a jackpot winner, I went straight to the newspaper man and bought a newspaper….I am now rich!I majestically checked into Java Mama Ngina Street and bought coffee-I didn’t care how much they sold it.
Since then, I have been having wonderful feeling when I receive money out of my hardwork.This online money is sweet and it’s regular. Over time, I have diversified my income, it comes from several sources. Sometimes I wake up and when I switch on the internet, several messages pop up that you have sold items. It’s a wonderful feeling especially when you own a popular blog.
